About Youth Resource Development Program

YRDP is a leading youth organization with local, regional and global recognition for its quality of critical thinking skill development for both, staff and youth. It was formally initiated in October 1992 and legally registered with the Ministry of the Interior in 1998. YRDP’s work is based on its values of Development, Impartiality, Gender Equity, Empowerment, Solidarity, Active Non-Violence and Transparency. YRDP mainly works with push-out and failed students of grade 12, high school graduates and youth of high education institutes who demonstrate the potential for future leadership and the ability to drive positive social change. YRDP is not affiliated with any political parties or religions.

Our vision: is a society where youth are empowered to exercise their civic and political rights as leaders for a peaceful, equitable and sustainable development in Cambodia.

Our mission: is to empower youth to become committed and active citizens with a better quality of life through taking concrete initiative and motivating others for promoting sustainable peace, justice, and democratic society.

Purpose of position:  is designed to support the realization of two innovative remembrance projects, involving youth in the ongoing Reconciliation Process with Cambodia’s past. The projects bring youth and Khmer Rouge survivors together to help in a unique way to remember the losses from the Khmer Rouge regime.

The Projects
Remembrance forest: A green and growing memorial site for the survivor generation as well as the general public will be created with the support and creativity of youth. A crowd-funding and a street campaign “I Remember” will be initiated to generate public awareness and discussion about reconciliation. Remembrance Song Contest: A youth song contest to nominate a remembrance song created by talented young musicians. The songs will be performed on stage with live broadcast on TV and will be rated by a jury consisting of Civil Parties. The wider public will be included by talented young musicians.
